Default Lost keys, AAA says they can cut new key?

Think I lost my keys for the second time in 7-8 years (unlike me to be careless with things... son of a *#%^+).

Anyway, I have a spare blank/uncut key (bought from iKeyless, not Honda). AAA tells me they can send a locksmith to both cut and sync the key (by sync, I mean deal with the chip/transponder). Is that right... anyone here had AAA do this before? I always thought you had to visit the dealer for this.

They can cut a key to get you in most likely but not one to start the car. If all your keys are gone you will need to go to the dealer..

Go to the dealer WITH the car right? Ugh.

AAA's local locksmith just called me, and is adamant he can do it.

He probably can do it.

It's a two step process---cutting the key and then the programming to make it work with the car's immobilizer in the ignition switch.

If the deal is that you don't pay him anything unless it works (unlocks the doors and starts the car) go for it---if he can't get it to work, then you can tow it to the dealer.....

That would be a first for me. Never knew AAA could do that! Keep us posted.

Some of the local mobile locksmiths in my area say they program keys. Apparently it's not that difficult or require special information

Thanks for the replies. Unless I find my keys today (doubtful), I'm going to give AAA a shot either tonight or tomorrow. Will let you know.

AAA just contracts with local mechanics, towers, and locksmiths. It has everything to do with that local person, and nothing to do with AAA.
