Default lost retainer and cotter/keeper :/

Was upgrading my ap1 retainers to ap2. Spring compressor slipped and shot one keeper and a retainer flying. Searched the head, bay, and under the car can't find either ...any ideas? Think if I pull the oil pan and find nothing and check the head I will be ok to start my car?

I'd do that, then try spinning the motor by hand to see if you encounter any obstruction. Then you'll probably be ok. It might have flung somewhere in your garage or engine bay.

I'm thinking that's what it did. Atleast I hope. I'm going to look more tonight after work.

No when I start the engine up will I know if there's a problem right away? So if I'm able to drive it a few miles I should be in the clear? I have a 8hr drive to Evans for a tune soon.

Which is where I was going. If you have the keeper on top of the retainer the spring flings them both god knows where, if the retainer isn't sitting in the head, could the keeper realistically have made it there?
