Loud start with comptech SC
I just noticed my comptech SC making a louder than normal noise at start up. The noise goes away after a couple of seconds. I live in south florida and it is getting warmer. Could this have an effet?
I checked the oil and it is full and only 1,500 miles since it was changed.

Only a couple of months. The best description i can give is like the impellers are rattling. Like you can hear them spinning.
I drove it pretty hard the day before. But , I always let it idle for a while before I shut it off.

Could be the supercharger bearing not getting enough oil. This could be a blocked oil feed or oil return line. What kind of oil are you running. Have you checked your air filter to make sure it is sealed. I'm thinking there might be the slight possibility that you ingested something that may have damaged the vanes, but then, it would most likely make the noise all the time.
Also, another thought: Check your S/C belt. Could it be too tight? Or too loose? If it's too tight, the belt may be exerting too much strain on the bearing. The belt won't last long either.

Thanks for the help. I will look into those things. I am going to see how it starts tomorrow. Hopefully, nothing serious. I am just glad it is not doing it all the time.
Right now I am running Mobil 1 10w 30 Syn. I am probably going to go with 10w 40 next oil change.

I am sure thats what the noise is. I checked everything and could not find anything wrong. When I started it up it made a similiar noise but not as severe. I think heat effects it. Mine is not aftercooled.
By the way, could you define impellar gear lash.
Thanks for the help.
