Which is louder Comptech or PRM?
Hi guys. I want to know which one to go for. I don't need any hp gains but don't want to loose too much either. I have looked at the other "proper" CAI options and don't want to start a war on those issues. For those of you who have had both can you please tell me:
1. Which is louder
2. Easier to install
3. Less loss of pwer because of heat soak
I am inclined toward the comptech since it has the housing but any advice would be great.
Thanks
Rahul

I have had both and the Prm is louder and is easier to install! Both should have the same heat soak levels as they draw air from the same location, the Comptech does have a box in which the filter sits but it is hard to say which one is better!
I just installed the Comptech and love the way it looks in the engine bay. I just had my dealership install it though, I was too lazy to deal with it. Doesn't seem to bog as much in first gear also.
Thanks for the replies guys. nzaizar you mention that the heat soak would be about the same but I was thinking that the Comptech one has a filter box and is more to the left so would be less prone to this. However the result can only be compared when installed in the car and since you have had both did you feel any difference in first gear starts and stop start traffic? Since you are in the sunshine state and get good hot weather you are probably the best judge of this.
I have PRM. Its really pleasantly loud at VTEC, and is cake to install. The air is probably the same, and the pipes never get hot. They get warm to the touch. I love it. I believe its the loudest intake you can get.

I thought people were losing power with the PRM intake? The comptech looks cleaner and almost oem, I guess I'm just tired of the aluminum pipe look. The sound @ vtec isn't too loud but is different from stock, nice little growl.
