Default Low Hp reading!

well i was at nopi nationals on saturday... and took the chance to dyno my car. I freaking dyno at 175 HP on the first run and 174 the next run!!! The s2k on before that dyno at 193 with a k&n intake and t1r sparrow. The only thing i have is a comptech exhaust since i'm getting ready for FI. My friend's gsr civic with exhaust intake and headers dyno at 150!!!

Gonna get a compression check soon

Comptech should gain you like 1 maybe 2 but not lose HP. Yes check plugs and compression. Low 190s is accurate and dynos vary from low 190s to high 190s.

maybe.. it's caused due to high mileage on ur vehicle. check ur leak test and might need to do some maintenance.. such as replacing a spark plug & battery, so on.

Assuming Kwando knows what he's talking about (which I can easily believe), maybe the comptech exhaust just sucks for NA cars. Certainly, it's not the first time I've heard of a non-stock exhaust hurting HP ratings.

You know the honda stuff made 240 crank HP. Once you start changing things around, you don't really know if you're helping or hurting HP.

my car only has 41K on it so far... Spart plugs are still original, changed oil every 3k with MOBIL 1 synthetic and MOBIL 1 Extended performance filter. However i am running 245/50/16 tire on the rear but that shouldn't count for that much of a HP lost.

leakdown and compression.

get 'em checked. post your results. something is wrong, and the chance that it's your exhaust is retarded...

It's retarded because.... I'm hearing all sorts of opinions without a lick of fact. The closes thing to facts is Kwando who claims a back to back aftermarket to stock exhause dyno comparison. He didn't say it was a comptech though.

I don't think it's unusual at all for an aftermarket exhaust to be worse than stock. I don't see Comptech spending millions on engine development like Honda does.

I think the biggest thing people are missing when they add exhaust and intake to there cars is what the parts actually due. Consider your exhaust and intake as tunning devices for the car. you put them on the car to get more power right? but when u start adding things with out compensating for others you will lose more power than you planned on making. just like in a turbo app the w/g isnt a part its a tunning took for the turbo. so if your adding stuff to the car and not adjusting a/f or timing for the mod your pretty much just throwing your money away.

BTW what was your A/F
