Default Low Revs coming to a stop

Hey all,

Going to try to explain this as easily as possible without making it confusing.

I have 2001 S2K, engine mods are a AEM cold air intake.

This little issue just stated about 5 days ago and only happens during specific times. When it has happened it seems during an "cold engine" and by cold i mean the temperature gauge has 2 blocks when i begin rolling, not an immediate turn on, then go.
One morning I came to an abrupt stop too quick to downshift so I just pressed the clutch in and braked. What I failed to notice was that my car had stalled, I thought i probably took the clutch out too late but ive been driving manual tranny for a while but i just blamed it on user error. I was sitting at the red light and noticed like i said my car turned off but not completely more like if you were to stall it. Radio still on, lights on as if you were about to press the engine start button next to radio controls.

Second time it happened was this past friday. This time i was moving my car because next door neighbors were cutting grass. It cut off on me again. Again engine temp was at 2 blocks on temp gauge. This where i began to notice my revs get really low. This is where it might seem confusing. I noticed when im not in gear the revs get low. So when I was at intersection the 5 days ago I didnt have time to downshift and held the clutch in in neutral and the revs got so low it "choked" out. So when im moving my car to park across the street it seem my car choked out as I was going to switch gears to reverse. The best feeling i could say is if you were running the A/C and you know that sucks power and the car trembles sometimes. It feels like that sometimes when Im idling at a stop.

Now this only happens during the beginning stages of driving say im driving all day, the car is perfect, no low revs no "shutting off". No issues while in gear or downshift. No issues while on the freeway or anything. Only during "cold-ish" engine like i said. A friend of mine said it could be mass air flow sensor or try reseting and ECU.

Hopefully this is detailed enough to get the problem out there and not confusing. Any help or tips would be appreciated.

Clean your IACV. It usually isn't temp-specific like you mention, but it's the first thing you should do and it will likely solve the issue. It's on the side of the intake manifold and has 2 coolant lines connected to it. 30 min job at most and that's if you take your time. Search IAC and you'll find what you need...

Perfect, i searched it up in these forums and I see some people have the same issue with the low revs. I will work on it ASAP. But do you know why it only does it during the beginning stages of when I drive rather than the entire time I drive? For EX if i drive for 20 mins itll only do it for 5 mins then itll be working normally.

I could be wrong, but I believe the reason people clean their IAC valve from having these symptoms is the basically clean out the carbon buildup that does not allow the valve to operate correctly (constricted and/or gummy). If the engine is warm and seeing at the IAC valve is directly on the intake manifold it gets quite hot from the engine heat which may "loosen" the carbon buildup enough to not be as constricting.

Again, I'm not an expert on this kinda of stuff. I just started learning about it myself

Thank You guys for your input. I cleaned the IAC and it still does it. Again only when its near a cold engine. I heard about the MAP whack, but i find it hard whacking my MAP to see if it fixes it. I also reset ECU also. Any suggestions?

My car used to stumble coming to a stop. My intent was to clean out the IAC and any other passages in the TB, but my problem went away when I installed an AEM and tuned the car.
