Default Lowering My S2k

I have an 00 with 50,000 and 18" wheels, I was wondering if I lowered it 1"-1.5" if would I need to get new shocks and/struts right away.......eventually........or not to worry about it.

If it would rub when turning or hitting bumps( not that I try but when you live in BFE KY its hard to avoid them in some cases)

And how is the camber.....would I need a new kit....I heard our cars came out with pretty good play, so would it adjust out when ever I go for an alignment.

Please help.......and if I have left anything out please feel free to chime in.

and for shits and grins any suggestions on springs?

Thanks
Brad

The OEM parts are good quality so the odds of needing to replace the shocks are pretty low. You should be able to lower the car without worry.

There is no way to say if the car will rub since we dont know the offsets or wheel or tire sizes you are running.

The S2K has adjustable camber from the factory. If you are lowering on larger wheels I suggest looking into a more aggressive alignment do a search to find the euro alignment specs.

As springs go people have had great luck with the Espilers but my guess would be that you will rub like crazy on 18's. Either save up for adjustable springs like the ground controls or the comptechs or go with something more conservative like the eibach prokit which is about a 1" drop.

I dropped mine 1.5, but I replaced the whole set up (K&W coilover/shock). The OEM will probably be ok, but I wanted to be more safe then sorry. The drop will make it look sick!!!

I'm using the Eibach Prokit with the stock shocks, and the combination works extremely well with the stock wheels and OEM S02's. When combined with the Brit alignment it makes a very nice upgrade for the car. Can't say for sure whether the larger (18") wheels/tires will cause interference problems. Too many variables.

What size 18's do you have, brand and offset? I will be more wear on your shocks.

Eibach Pro Kit on 18's here, with no rubbing whatsoever. It's all in the offsets.

18"s, Eibachs, standard shocks, standard UK Geo set up and only rubs on hard cornering or going real fast on bumpy roads.

Looks the Dogs tho

Can anyone point me to the euro alignments specs? Are these specs really only useful if you have lowered the car? what would be the negative if the car was left at the stock alignments when installing say a pro kit spring set and leaving the stock wheels? Thanks guys
