Lucas Oil Stabilizer Good Or Bad
I just bought a 03 s2000 last week and im going to be changing all the fluids soon just for the peace of mind. First I was wondering if lucas oil stabilizer was any good i know some people that swear on it but others say its not good for a high revving motor. Also i was wondering what type of fluids to use i was thinking amsoil. Ive heard that our cars dont like mobile 1 and thats what ive been using in previous cars.
Second opinion:
I used it in my 90 Silverado (350 CI) after putting in Amsoil synthetic. After the oil change (without Lucas OS) the Oil pressure was at or below 0 at idle after a long drive. I then researched the forums and found that many have used the Lucas OS to stabilize the Oil pressure and it worked for me. Now, at idle, the Oil pressure stays above 15-20 psi and does not activate the gauge warning light.

Lucas oil stabilizer is in essence no different than pouring a straight 60 weight oil into whatever oil you are using at the moment. This is never a good idea. The reason your oil pressure system is actually reading a positive pressure when you used the Lucas is your actual pressure is probably very high (try running a 60 weight oil in any car - the pressure will be insane). Running this type of 'snake oil' in a precision built Honda engine is even a worse idea than running it in a poorly assembled, stone-age designed Chevy pushrod engine.
Let me reiterate this clearly: LUCAS products are garbage. Their oil stabilizer is garbage.
Lucas is a great product. Its been used in many applications with great results. The Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer can be added to a brand new car and doesn't void its factory warranty. Use some, it smooths the motor. There is no negative to it, otherwise manufacturers wouldn't trust them with warranties.

Don't really feel I should Post to other driver's questions. I have read over several posts and have seen where (more research) would save a person several comments.
At or below zero: Let me explain. After a long drive, I would then idle the engine and the gauge would bury and the warning light would come on showing "Check Gauges". This indicated a breakdown on the Oil. On the Chevy Silverado (350) forum, many had posted the same problem with the low oil pressure' and all recommended the Lucas OS for the remedy.
As for the oil pump, Chevrolet has some problems (not made sturdy like the Japanese Oil pumps for Hondas).
