Default Made some weird noise!

I recently bought a s2k last week. Its a 2003 and it has 24,000 miles on it. Well today when i was leaving work i was pulling out into traffic so i got on it alittle bit and it felt a little sluggish and i was thinking WTF, Then the vtec didnt kick in and right at about 7500 or 7400 the engine boged down and made a weird noise (sounded like missing a gear or grinding the shit out of one) but i wasnt shifting or had the clutch in. So i let off and slowed down. I stop the car and took off again same thing happen so i drove it to my mechanic and when i took him in it....nothing happen of course. and it hasnt happen since but any ideas WTF happen???

^^ My guess as well. Chris, until the car gets to 3 bars on the temp gauge, v-tec won't engage and you will encounter the rev limiter.
