Follow up to my low oil pressure thread.
Rod bearings were fine. Pulled the motor and found the center main bearing failed. There was a small piece of what appeared to be a cage to a ball bearing made out of copper. Any idea where this could have come from?
also, does anyone know how much can be taken off the crank journals?
If that came out of your turbo(as I think you have one from your low oil post) then the oil pump picked that crap up and the OIL FILTER did not stop it. The only way for that to happen is a torn pleat in the oil filter or the debris went through the oil filter by-pass and that can happen if the oil filter is filled with enough debris that the pressure drop across the filter is so great that the by-pass opens. That is why one should run the largest oil filter one can fit on the car. If you have a remote oil filter, ditch the little Honda filter and put a real oil filter on it. The Donaldson P502503, 99%@15 micron and 50%@7 micron flows 15+ GPM
If that filter will feed a 6.7L diesel it will have no problem feeding your S.
I don't know if it will fit where the stock oil filter sits but I'm going to have a thread adapter made to see if the P502503 will fit on my '06 S(it should). Right now I have a Baldwin B202 on my S (3 11/16" X 5 3/8")
Was 110k. I took the crankshaft to the machine shop and they were able to turn it to go once size larger on bearings so all is good

Nothing even close to the size of that piece can get sucked through the oil pump. There is a screen on the base to prevent that, not to mention im pretty sure if that piece did get sucked up it would lock up the oil pump. I do have a relocation kit but I run oem honda filters
