Default Maint Minder Wrong?

So I love my car and actually in my previous car (STi) it was encouraged to get the oil changed constantly for various reasons. So I was used to going 3,000-3,500 mile oil changes.

Anyway so I went into the dealership at 50% at about 3,400 miles - at first they didn't want to change the oil then I gave the guy some 'words' and they did it.
$72 later and what I remember to be reset to 100% this was four weeks ago.

Fast forward to last night... bam 15% service light comes on and I've only driven about 1800 miles - part of me thinks maybe I didn't really check but I'm sure I checked and they reset it to 100%. The oil has great color (just means its new) but it doesn't seem like there is a lot of it.

Could it be that the maint minder is wrong? Anybody else have this sort of experience? I know people will chime in and be like they never reset it but I'm pretty sure they did.

yeah do the oil change yourself.. you know it got done; plus it costs less, and from what you are saying about you frequency of oil changes, you could benefit from that.

The car is still under warranty so I'm trying to establish a relationship with the dealership in case something goes wrong they can't just wash their hands of my car - I can basically prove that they were working on the car and the problem arrised under warranty.

forgetting to reset the Maint. minder isn't really a problem. I stopped going through the trouble a few cycles ago of even resetting it. Plus dealerships are dealerships. If something goes wrong down the line they will hang you. Go into the 'Tell Honda' section and see how many people aren't getting their top replaced under warranty when it tears. They will screw you just like all the people that didn't spend 75 dollars on an oil change.

If you do your own maintanance and the car is under warranty, record in the little service booklet what you did and then reset the maintanance reminder. The fewer questions that you allow Honda to ask by doing these functions the better. I haven't dealt with them for anything yet but it could easily turn into a "you say, we say" even with your own records.
Hopefully this attitude will never exist with my local dealer, but it could based on comments of others.

5200 mile w/ 15% service light show seem to early. I have an '06 also and my car can go about 10K per oil change. I drive until 5% light show and I use Mobile 1.

3000-4000 mile oil change seem like a waste of money if you use synthetic oil. Hay it's your money what ever you feel good. Just my idea.

who cares about your maintenance minder light. You know when your car is due for an oil change so don't worry about it.

I just reset my maint light everytime it comes on.

Nope, it seems just right for synth, but a bit long for dino. 50% is WAY too early.
