maintainance required light
My Maintainance required light has started coming on and off irregularly. whats this all about? I am familiar with the check engine light, but not this one. I have just over 6k mi on my 03. anyone know? The car is running fine, it came on this weekend at the track. Gerry
To reset the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED light:
- Have key inserted in ignition but in the OFF or LOCKED position.
- Push and hold the trip reset button on the right bottom corner of your gauge clutster.
- Turn key to full ON position and continue holding the button till the light goes off.
- (Some manuals may be a bit off in that they do not tell you to turn the key to the ON position.)
NOTE: This light is only a mileage counter and acts as a reminder to do your oil change following the "normal" maintenance schedule. When you have reached a certain mileage after the last reset, it will begin to blink upon each start up. Once you have covered more mileage, it will stay on all the time. The light can be reset anytime after it first blinks or stays on.
(NO, the light does NOT mean your car is about the IMPLODE! -- RELAX!)

To reset the MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (aka: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT - CEL)
PLEASE NOTE: before you reset this light, you might want to know why it came on in the first place. Have the code pulled at your dealer (or other facility that will have a scanner - like Autozone). If you know for sure (like if you didn't put your gas cap on tight enough), here's how to do it:
- Look at the fuse legend on the left side footwell kickpanel:
