Maintenance Light Question
This had been discussed many times.
The sole function is contained in the dash board itself.
Those blinking light worries you huh?
Well you can rest easy that triggering of the maintenance required light is from within the dash itself and not connected to any other functions of the vehicle.
Keep this as a reference.
The blinking pattern for Maintenace required or rather Maintenance Reminder light
is as follows:
At every 5900 to 6100 miles -> It blinks for ten seconds when ignition is turned on.
At every 7400 to 7600 miles -> It stops blinking and comes on always until reset.
It can get annoying but it is a feature to remind you to properly maintain your car if you have been neglecting. I don't think any S2000 owners would be negligent in properly maintaining his or her cars however....
If it bothers you too much, my advice is to remove the dash(which isn't that easy) and yank out the bulb that goes for Maintenance Required and never face it again but the procedure to reset is quite easy so this shouldn't be necessary, you just have to live with it.

Put key in ignition
Push trip reset button, continue to hold button for 10 seconds
Turn key to next position
Hold button until light stays off.
The secret is holding the reset button and turning the key to the next position. It does not specify that in the manual

Mine did that around 6000 miles, and stayed on at around 7000. All I did was reset it. Funny thing is, it came on again. I'm at 13,500 miles now. I resetted it, but am wondering why it came on. It seemed to light up after installing the Spoon thermostat/switch/radiator cap, which had me worried.
You guys think it came on because its almost due for the 15k checkup?
