Default Making Dynos Lie

I see all kinds of numbers in here from different dynos. I hadn't had much dyno experience till I got my S. Since then I've become educated.

It's easy for a shop to make a dyno lie so you feel better. Even if it says SAE. All they do is go in and change a parameter such as drivetrain loss % and now all of a sudden you've got more hp and that % correction doesn't show on your dyno run printout either.

An unscrupulous shop will use this to their advantage in selling you parts or services. It's your responsibility to make sure the dyno parameters entered are correct and remain the same on every run after your baseline.

I just saw an S2000 that was done this way, the "phoney dyno" was 60rwhp more than reality. This led to a review of supposed work done and it was found there was work billed that hadn't ever happened.

I'm glad it wasn't my car. I just thought I'd pass this along.

scary that that stuff is possible, even more terrble that folks would do it, I don't imagine that the tuner that does this will become very reputable,

important to have someone you know/trust work on your car...

Wow a reported gain of 60 HP, If you told me that and I drove the car I would have to laugh in your face if it was skewed that bad you should be able to tell a significant difference lol. Unless its like the difference between 600 and 660 probably not as noticable.

60 WHP in an S has to be some serious money spent if it's not boosted.
