I think after time, the seals just corrode. The OP has a 00 s, you have an 01, and from what I've read here, CMCs can go bad in as little as three years.

Fwiw, I just replaced mine at 6 yrs old. I first flushed the fluid, but it was still leaking, with black build up at the plunger, which I took to be disintegrating rubber mixed with brake fluid. Ymmv.
Yes, mine has the black fluid at the plunger. Now, if it's disintegrating rubber from the system a fluid change doesn't seem like it will take care of it at this point...

So, it sounds like with a 10 year old 160k mile car with black residue in the plunger I should go for a new one at this point (master cyl).

mate just had the same thing 2 i had replaced my clutch and flywheel a week earlier the extra pressure from the aftermarket clutch must have blown the already weak seal in the master the pedal went sloppy as i just replaced both the master and slave the guys at my honda dealership said usually when the master goes the slave usually follows so u might want to think about changing both

^Look for leaks around the rubber dust boot.

pick up an omni power one, its an upgrade over the stock makes the clutch feel better and allows for quicker shifts
the omni quick MC is a pos

i dont know why people still buy from a company that have
terrible product failure record.

remember the omni full coilover? the lower machined mount(the one
that connect your shock to the control arm) snaps in half

please explain why you think it feels better...
Maybe i'm lucky then, I have not had any problem with omni products in the past or present. Had the coil overs and the clutch master cylinder on my GSR for over 6 years no problems, the car was tracked often as well. On my S I have the clutch master cylinder, so far so good.

I think clutch feel is a matter of preference, with the omni pedal feel is much stiffer and clutch engagement is much sooner than stock.

I called OMNI last year regarding their master cylinder. They said they no longer sell them as so many of them were breaking, therefore I wouldn't recommend it.
