Thumbs up metal rattle...

While driving, once i hit 3000 rpm there is a metal rattling sound. From the interior, it sounds like it's coming from the rear of the car. The rattling goes away once i reach 3500 rpm. I've been able to recreate the sound when not in motion. I recently installed an ACT clutch kit and flywheel. Also a throw out and pilot bearing. I figured the noise would go away but it didnt'. The noise was there before the clutch install and i was disappointed to hear it there after the install ... Any ideas?

I gonna guess that it is the cat heat shield if you still have the stock cat. Could also be broken material inside of the cat. Need more info on what mods you have done.

I've got a stock exhaust up until the Y. There it's welded to the invidia V2. I've install new rivets on the tips because they were loose. I have gotten underneath the car and shaken the exhaust to see if there were any points touching the car. i guess i can take the cat off tomorrow to see if there is something broken inside. It's really loud when i drive and annoying..

Normally when you have a loud exhaust the most annoying rattle between the RPM ranges you described is from the 2 metal trunk poles vibrating against each other when the trunk is shut.

wrap a shirt between the two poles when testing.. then go for a drive.

I never thought about that. That actually sounds like it could be the issue. I'll try that tomorrow.

i had this similar problem and drove me nuts... but i found what was making the sound...
you ready for this? it was the the metal lock piece that holds the spare tire secure... i guess it eventually came loose over time, so i went back there and tightened it down, and voila! no more sound!
