I'll be receiving the new filter from Giampiero real soon, with dyno testing to take place in a few weeks.

Here's the pic that was posted in Car Talk:

Are those SPOON colors? Hmmm! I wonder. Can't wait for the dyno.

Yes, that's the MG filter...looks sweet. I was talking to Giampiero tonight about a lot of things, but the filter came up, as well. It doesn't require oiling, it's very easy to clean and the microfibers are extremely good at what they do.

I would caution to expect big results from a dyno, however. The real test for an intake or filter is to have the car in motion so the part can do its job at speed. Unless there is a simulator that blows wind at the car during the dyno, the results won't be dramatic, even if the piece really does make power at speed.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing what your impressions are. I'm sure you will be impressed...and the ease of long term care has to be factored into the equation as well. Filter like the K&N that require oiling are a pain and have their own problems that are associated with that. This filter is cleaned by compressed air...

Looking forward to hearing your take on it!

I would expect the dyno to show the peak results of the filter. The filter should have the most dramatic effect when the car is not in motion. That's when the pressure differential between the engine vacuum and exterior air would be the greatest and the filter resistance would have the greatest effect. When the car is in motion the air is being forced into the air intake and the engine will get more air. I hope I'm remembering my thermodynamics correctly. The more the pessure increases on the intake the less effect the filter's resistance has on suppling the engine air.

Installed the new filter this weekend. Here are some observations:

- Overall fit and quality is very good
- Pushed it into the intake hose but it got stuck first time
- Applied some grease and it installed in just a few seconds
- Suggest making it just a little shorter (like you mentioned Giampiero)
- Airbox cover fits on almost perfectly. The left side of the cover(passenger side) sits perfectly on the bottom part of the airbox, just a little pushing needed on the right side (driver's) where the filter sits just a little too high
