MIL Light on Dash - CAT Problem
Hi
Recently the MIL light has illuminated on my dashboard. I had it checked on the diagnostic and it said it was the CAT. I got a new CAT put on (not at HONDA) but Quik Fit in UK. The light has since come back on again. I have had all sensors replaced on the CAT and the light goes off then comes back on again. I have the Code on the Diagnostic - P0420 - ECU No 10. Description Catalyst System Eff Below Thresholds.
I spoke to the guy doing the diagnostic and he said it may be a faulty CAT have had put on? Does any one firstly know what this code means or what i can do to fix the situation?
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers

I'm thinking it's not the Maintenance indicator light, but a CEL (Check Engine Light) since you're throwing a code.
If it is truly an MIL then you can just reset it as it's a distance travelled indicator as opposed to being spurred by any sensor.
The fact that you have a code is perturbing though.

MikeyCB,
MIL (Malfuntion indicator lamp) has the same meaning as a CEL but different letters
Across the pond things may be different.
OP I recall reading something about this some time ago where you were going through the same predicament and now it is back again. Seems to be a bit frustrating when no one can properly diagnose the problem. Try an OEM cat and OEM O2 sensors to see if this fixes it, it seems to be pointing at these components.

you can probably pick up a used one from another member for cheap. many people sell them when putting in a test pipe for example. but in your situation, since you've had cat troubles in the past, maybe its best to lay down the extra money to get a brand new one. sorry i dont know how much it will cost for a new one
