minor headgasket leak
i just noticed this morning that i have a little bit of oil residue on the block from the head gasket in the front of the motor. i talked with my professor at school, he said just to wipe the oil off and see if it leaks more. He also said that it may have been thermal expansion and the gasket may have already sealed the leak. my car is a 00' with 19,500 miles. i don't drive the car hard, just wondering if anyone knows if everyones leaks a little bit and stops or if it is a headgasket problem and if i should get it replaced?

I think it might just be a bad seal.
Some light oil seepage from the front chain case/cylinder head is fairly typical. Cylinder seal is not compromised, and replacing the headgasket is very labor intensive to repair. IMHO, clean it off, and watch it. It will go many thousands of miles before seeping enough to show some dirt again.

are we talking head gasket or rocker cover here.
surley if its the head then comperssion would be lost.
if it the rocker the as the guys have said it np.maybe check the torque of the rocker bolts.

It is seepage from the chain case area of the head gasket, at the front of the cylinder head. it is sealed With hondabond/ultraflange II. This part of the gasket doesn't hold in cylinder pressure.
