Default miss shifting on my s2000

Hello everyone

Yesterday I was driving on my S2000 and I was accelerating hard in first gear and by mistake I missed the second gear and my engine was over the red line (9000 RPM) for a 2 seconds.... I have an 2007 s2000 with 16000 miles and skunk2 exhaust system.

What should I do to make sure I did not cause any damage to the engine, After I missed a gear I stopped at a gas station to check if is an strange noise from the engine and make sure that I did not broke a piston.

How do I know if my engine do not damage?

Thanks to all helpers

If no extra noise, no cel's, and drives fine then your lucky.

what you just did was bounce off the rev limiter.. your car is fine, you will NOT do any harm to your motor bouncing off the rev limiter. unless you bounce off of it for a long period of time..

I'm somewhat confused by this. What gear would you have misshifted into if you were shifting out of first?

If you where in first and missed second then you didn't do anything..... the rev's drop as soon as you shift. Even if you bounced of the rev limiter..that's what it's there for. You can bounce off of it all day.

You're fine....

That's what I was thinking.

I was expecting 1st to 4th in which case the synchro probably wouldn't like it, but your engine wouldn't be revving to 9k rpm either.

Nothing to worry about.

YOu can bounce of the rev limiter and I do regularly without issue. Go from 5th to 2nd and you'll not have a head left to that motor.

redline on an us AP2 is 8k btw...not 9k. There's no possible way to overrev the car the top of 1st gear.

Also, you'd break valves before you broke [punched a hole in the] pistons.

You went to shift to second, hit neutral instead, and floored the gas wide open in neutral?

If so, no harm done.
