I recently found that one of my rear wheels was missing a lug nut. I probably drove around for a month and didn't even notice it. I promptly bought a lug nut from Honda when I found out. My car is fine.

Not a good idea, particularly if you don't know how long it's been missing.

This is coming from a guy who ran with 4/5 lugs for a few months or so on another car, then one day the wheel left the car.

Four lugs on cars that come with four lugs does not in ANY WAY justify running 4 lugs on a car that came with 5! Toss that argument right out the window.

Get it fixed ASAP.

ZDan, Did you torque down the remaining 4 once you found out that one of them was missing? If they are properly torqued its not like the car is going to blow up on him if he drives it.

Yeah, the remaining lugs were tight. After the wheel came off you could see that one of the adjacent studs had fatigued, then when it let go the rest snapped right off.

Could probably go a mighty long time with four on the S. But then again, every single wheel revolution is a load cycle. There are five lugs for a reason. For sure running four out of five is better than running three out of four (which I've had to do for a limited time on the Z before), but there's just not any good reason for not getting this taken car of As Soon As Possible.

so, there is this guy driving down the side of a road when he gets a flat tire. He proceeds to change the flat tire but loses the lug nuts. He doesn't know what he's going to do, how is he going to secure the wheel without the lugnuts. Luckily for him the road was next to an insane asylum, and just then one of the crazies behind the fence gives him some advice. He says your problem is very easy to solve, just take one lug nut from each of the other wheels. The guy is amazed, he couldn't believe how the crazy had managed to figure that out. So, he ask, how such a smart man could be in an insane asylum, and the crazy responded, I'm crazy, not stupid.
That's an Argentine joke!! I knew it
