Default Mobil 1

So i went to w@l-m@rt and bought a couple 1gallon jugs of Mobil 1. There were 3 that i was debating on

1: Mobil extended 5000 (10-30w)
2: Mobil high mileage (10-30w)
3: Mobil 5-20w (says on container "Honda" approved).

I live in Wa. and it does have its share of hot/cold weather. My other problem is that i have 90k miles and im the 5th owner . The car has/is going to be modded with headers and exhaust with a VAFC. Next is all Mobil oil synt?? So.......what oil would you use??

Well it depends on what oil the car has been using for the last 90k because if it's been using dino oil, it's too late to switch to synt.

Too late??? Why?

I dont think any of those are synthetic anyways. The High mileage oils have conditioners and cleaners in them.

The Mobil 5000 :http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...5000_FAQs.aspx

It's basically a toned down version of the extended.

the 50w20 isn't a "S2000" recommended oil, please refer to oil cap.

All three need to go... what other alternatives does the Wally Mart have in your area?

Its never too late to switch to synthetic oil, in my opinion. Unless you have a BAD burning oil problem or leaks in the system.

If I were you I wouldn't buy any of those three. I would look for just regular Mobil1. And to answer another one of your questions, not all Mobil is synthetic.

Current Vehicle:
Year: 2000
Make: Honda
Model: S2000
Engine Type: 4cyl. 2.0Liter VTEC Naturally Aspirated

*****Ultimate Protection*****

*Mobil 1 Extended Performance 10W-30 fully synthetic motor oil is designed for today's longer service intervals. It provides guaranteed performance and protection for 15,000 miles or one year. Mobil 1 Extended Performance products with the Advanced SuperSyn System contain extra performance additives to help deliver outstanding engine protection.

*Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-30
A fully synthetic motor oil, Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-30 is designed especially for higher mileage engines where conventional oil has been used. It reduces the sludge and deposits that conventional oils can leave behind.

*Mobil 1 10W-30
A fully synthetic motor oil, Mobil 1 10W-30 with SuperSyn Technology, exceeds warranty requirements for gasoline engines where an API certified oil is specified. Mobil 1 is recommended by leading car manufacturers as initial fill.

I think its safe to go with High mileage.............right??

I wouldn't use any of those. I use Mobil 1 5w-30 all year round.

I would stick with 10w-30 but yes you can use the high mileage, or extended performance if you would like, both are synthetic.
I use the extended performance it mine, its a little more expensive than the regular mobil 1, but for some reason its just a peace of mind thing. I still change my oil every 3,000 miles though, I wouldnt ever think about holding off 15,000 miles like it says you can....

Mobil drive clean 5000 and 7500 oils are dino based. The 5000 oil is dino only and the 7500 oil is a synthetic blend.

Mobil's high mileage oils are synthetic, although they're a little bit thicker on the operating end of the spectrum. I wouldn't run them if you're looking for optimal cold flow capabilities.

Mobil 1 5w20 is synthetic, but is not approved for the S2000.

The approved oil for your S2000 is listed in the manual, on this website, and on your oil cap. Conversely, if the oil is synthetic, it will say so right on the bottle. So instead of asking us which oil is synthetic just read the bottle. Yes, it's really that easy.

Now, for your final question. Which oil would I use? None of those listed. I'd use Pennzoil Platinum 5w30.
