LS additive is not required nor desired.

Can you elaborate on that, Indy?

The LS additive is only needed in clutch type LSDs. The OEM LSD is a torsen (gear type torque biasing LSD) and doesn't require any modifiers.

I just changed mine and used the nonslip. Our diff is torsen, not clutch LSD.

Thank You Slipstream444 for clarify my questions and that was really helpful. I still have one question on mind though. As you mention for the tranmission either OEM MTF or AMSOIL MTF. How about Redline MTL or MT-90? Can I use that on my Tranmisson?

Bottom line you can either use Mobil 1 75w-90 LS or Regular kind for the Differential right? I went to pepboys, kragen and all the have is LS Additive 75w-90. Thank You for all your help.

There are several members that use the Redline MTL or MT-90 in the transmission. I've tried the MTL and it frankly wasn't any better than Honda's MTF. Some folks swear by it - but I didn't see any benefit and it broke down just as fast as the Honda MTF.

As stated before, a torsen LSD doesn't require the LS additive. A LS additive is a friction modifier for the wet clutches in a clutch-type LSD. This is why INDYMAC stated it isn't needed or desired - it's just extra stuff in the oil that won't benefit the operation of the OEM LSD or gearset. However, the LS additive in the gear oil shouldn't cause any problems. Once again, I'd just order a better gear oil and change it later - but that's just me.

Here is a discussion from BITOG about what fluids to use in a LSD similar in design to the Torsen that I read awhile back that leads me to believe LS additives may only cause problems for us, and no benefit:

Since many S2000 owners seem to be using M1 LS now, I guess we'll find out if there really is a problem soon.

As much as I don't want to extend this thread, I feel I must ask this question: On the Mobil 1 website, I see ONLY the Mobil 1 LS listed. I do NOT see a NON-LS listed as a choice. For those of you using Mobil 1 75W90, have you been able to find a non-LS option? If not, I am leaning toward the product from Redline called 75W90 NS. Any help? Thanks!
