Thumbs up For Mobil 1 engine oil users -

Does the extended performance version of Mobil 1 have any disadvantages besides the cost? I'm guessing it can only help, right? I would still replace at the same intervals, but the degree of protection (not duration) is probably equal to or better (but not worse) than the regular Mobil 1, I would think.

Don't wast you money if you are not going to change your oil change habits.

I dont know about the Extended Drain Mobil 1, but my 98 integra LS has 165k miles on it. I have used mobil 1 since 60k miles (when I bought the car) normally go 7500-9000 miles between changes, and routinly beat the living hell out of it everytime I drive it. It runs perfectly, does not burn any oil, car runs just like a brand new car.

Don't have an s2k (yet anyway, joined s2ki because im looking to buy one in the next few weeks).. But when I do get one, it will run only Mobil 1.

If you change your oil once a year or 7.5 k miles whichever is first, then you do not need extended performance Mobil1.

Some German cars that have oil change interval up to 15k miles, then extended performance Mobil1 may be the oil.

Yep. I don't think I could stand 15k oil changes, it'd probably just eat me up inside. I'm having a hard enough time with 7.5k with Mobil 1 since I've always done 3000 on my old CRX. In fact, I gave in at 6k because of the maintanence required light was flashing at me (plus I was bored that weekend)

I have '00 E class for 5 1/2 years, and that car had oil changes once a year at around 12k miles with standard Mobil1. My other car is '94 LS400 and that car had once a year oil change with Mobil1 for the last 12 years too. Neither car has oil related problems.
Since I drive my S about 6 to 7k miles a year, I am doing once a year oil change with standard Mobil1 for it too.

I just approched 3 thousand on my '05, and i'm planning on doing the oil change this weekend (if it doesn't snow) I don't think I would feel comfortable changing it every 7K.... I hope you guys atleast add oil every now and then, unless you're not hitting VTEC that often.

I had a Used Oil Analysis done on my car at 9,400 miles of use on Valvoline Synpower, and the report came back that there was still oil life left and that it was protecting and performing just fine.
