Default Moisture causing "squeal" under the hood?

I have a Seibon TS carbon hood. This model has three vents on each side leaving the engine open to the elements. I have a squeal that has progressively gotten worse. It it loud when I start her up, and continues even when the engine warms up. Eventually it does go away, but don't think this is necessarily a "good" noise. I live in FL and assume it has to be excessive moisture causing the noise.

Any ideas what might might be making this noise and what may be causing it?

Thank you in advance.

Chris

Can you locate where the squeal is coming from? Serpentine belt? Pulley? RPM dependent? Constant?

There is a belt wear indicator on the auto tensioner. Just to the right of the head you will see a belt pulley and just behind it the tensioner. The tensioner has a shield with two mark. A new belt will ailn to the short groove, a worn belt will be outside the neighboring rib (longer). If Outside the limit you can use a box end wrench to quickly and easily replace the belt.

P.S if you do need one I buy them from Summit Racing. Use their Make/Model search engine. Many swear by OEM and others. Another topic of debate here on the board.
Good Luck!

Thank you both. I get a uuugly loud grinding noise when I first start it up too. Only happens cold and no RPM needed. Only happenes when pistons fire then off to the squeal..

Could these be related?

Ty.

Grinding noise is your starter sticking. Common problem, doesnt really need to be addressed iIMO. Ive has the same thing for years and it still hasnt failed; will probably change it when the clutch needs replacing.

Utah S2k...

It does sound like the belt as you described. You said the tensioner has a shield with two what?

There is a rib about 5/8" on the shield. The rib (raised metal) has a cutout (new belt) on the left. There is a notch on the pulley carrier. On a new belt the notch on the pulley carrier lines up with the cut out on the left side of the tensioner shield. As the belt wears the notch on the pulley carrier moves to the right (now off the new belt cut out on the far ledt of the raised rib of the belt tensioner). As the belt wears the notch on the pulley carrier moves right. When the notch goes to the right of the rib it is worn out. Hope this makes sense. I change them out if the pulley carrier mark is past center (to the right) on the tensioner.
