Default Motor Mounts

A lot of older information out there but I am looking for info from folks that have aftermarket motor mounts and have had them for a little while.

I mostly see that the innovative mounts are too harsh.

I have seen only a couple remarks about the Meghan racing mounts, mostly positive and the same for the Hasport mounts with the occasional person saying they where "unbearable".

But the most recent threads I found through Google where 2012 time frame.

By the way the car is all street driven for now, in a few years it will be strictly a track toy and occasional drive on a nice day car. End goal is track, street comfort can be somewhat sacrificed. I am thinking of going with the Halsport 70A "Race" set of mounts.

Our car runs phenomenally smooth with OEM mounts. I feel that stiff mounts really cheapen the car, for minimal/marginal gains on the track. Track guys will disagree, of course, but how many milliseconds do stiffer mounts *really* shave off your time? Maybe poop before your race for similar gains

I recommend the Megan or Spoon Engine Mounts (...and rear diff mounts, too)

The oem ones are fluid filled rubber and are nice and comfy but they will tear under any track driving

Megan and spoon engine mounts; I'm assuming the spoon ones came first, are basically solid rubber versions of the oem mounts which are significantly stiffer than the oem ones.

On track, it may only result in fractions of a second but it makes the car that much more engaged, shifts are more precise, the engine doesn't feel like it's sloshing around lazily.

Initially, both versions introduce some vibration, but eventually they both settle in and make the car feel more connected without being annoying like solid delrin or metal mounts.

I would recommend either depending on your wallet and availability.

Vibratechnics. Order them from kseries parts. Very smooth compared to other mounts, but offer the rigidness needed over the factory mounts. Yes they are more rough than factory, but compared to urethane they are great.

it really depends

if you are tracking the car and you are fast you can destroy the OEM ones in a season

I've done about 3 seasons worth of tracking on my spoon and megan mounts; still good so far

I really recommend the Spoon mounts. Yes there is some more vibrations but that is mostly just when idling, the stability a harder mount gives is phenomenal and I'd personally trade that for vibrations during idle.

I have the Hasport 62a motor mounts on my car and I like them. I just do regular street driving with my car and no tracking. Shifting is more precise now without all the engine movement from the torn OEM ones. I had the idle turned up a little to 1,100 to reduce the vibration of them some when sitting at idle. Overall I really don't have any complaints about them and I think they are a fine choice if you're looking to upgrade.

I just installed some Innovative mounts. I went with these because my turbo's oil return line didn't clear the OEM mount. I'll report back once the car is back in service.
