are you 100% sure your oil level is good? checking both sides of the stick?

Only other possible cause is the camwheel bushing seized and snaspped the bolt, but I highly doubt that.

 

Are you sure they never STARTED to pull the head when they did the retainer job?

 

I was just thinking the same thing. If that bolt is snapped. Maybe they had removed it and were like oh that didn't need to come out and wayy over-torqued it causing it to start to shear. That's the only reason why I can think that bolt would just snap off....

 

Well, to be honest i was only there while they took the valve cover off and started removing the cams, at that point i left to go back to class. I am unsure of the method they used but i was told they pressurized the cylinders since i bought the tool for them to do it without taking the head off.

I don't want to take the car there, i want to see for myself the issues because at this point i dont trust shit they plan to say. However, i feel that they will say it isnt their fault since i took the valve cover off and poked around to see what broke.

I had a friend take pictures of the entire process and from the pics i never actually saw them mess with the head

 

All it would take is for them to think that idler gear bolt had to come out in order to remove the cams. Then an improper torque could have weakened it causing your exact issue.

 

I am trying to remember what they said, i seem to remember having to tell him at some point the cams weren't directly attatched to chain and i think i remember him trying to mess with that bolt. I don't drive my car all that much. I had that done, went to dragon, then home, just a few local meets. probably around 2000-2500 miles since the work was done. Could that bolt have waited that long?

 

I would think so, if he DID loosen it, then tightened it (over-tightened it) it would have started to stretch and severely weaken the bolt, due to numerous heat cycles since then, the bolt has weakened more and more, and it finally let go. Just my thoughts.
