The differences are minor - I believe the Spoon is a little more aggressive (higher psi rad cap and quicker-acting thermoswitch)

I chose based on price, and went with Mugen from King Motorsports - Site Sponsor

$55 for a $6 thermostat isn't cheap no matter how you slice it.

Price aside, the Spoon thermostat is set to open sooner and the fan switch activates at a lower temp. Spoon is about 10 degrees lower than Mugen. If you live in cold climate ( if it snows, etc) I would suggest the Mugen. I have had good results with the Spoon here in So. Cal. where the temp seldom goes below 50 degrees.

Any negative effects of having Spoon thermoswitch and radcap installed without the Spoon thermostat? I have the thermostat but haven't gotten the chance to get it installed.

I think the fan will remain on all the time because the engine will be running much warmer than the activation point for the fan.

There is nothing wrong with running just the fan switch.
