Default mugen sway bar ??

Just curious if anyone has the mugen 31.8mm front sway bar. I have the oppurtunity to purchase one used and I have heard great things; less roll, minimal understeer and superior cornering that is perfectly flat...

Does anyone have experience with the mugen or any other kinds??

thanks

A larger front bar helps hold the inside rear tire in contact with the road under hard cornering forces since it reduces body roll overall. The chassis is so stiff that you can relatively easily spin the inside rear tire when autocrossing. For street driving, less body roll makes spirited driving a bit more fun with less tendency to oversteer (rear end stepping out). That doesn't mean you CAN'T oversteer - just raises the limit.

A large swaybar would reduce body roll.. therefore it has a tendency to understeer a bit..

i've been waiting for my 31.8mm mugen front swaybar now for over 5 weeks. I talked to King today and they said that mugen is actually redesigning the bar from the previous one, god knows when it will get over here to the US, well i'll be happy when it gets here, hopefully soon.

If yer looking to autocross, the brace bumps you out of stock class. Besides, it won't have nearly the effect that the front bar will for this purpose...

I have to think that buying a stiffer front sway bar is going to make the car understeer. On the other hand, sliding the front probably won't be a factor in street driving, and you might like the feeling of flatter cornering. I don't figure it'll help your ultimate grip however.

Actually, it's because you transfer more weight out of the front inside tire and less from the rear inside tire, that a stiffer front anti-roll bar helps with keeping the rear tire on the road.

Luis,

You know... I've been wondering about this... Is the overall lateral grip of the rear inside better with a stiffer front bar or have you made the front a little less gripy then it was before. If a stiffer front bar reduces overall grip, would a softer rear bar improve overall grip? And still provide the desired shift in balance?
