Default My AP1 Intake valve retainers...good or bad?

Greetings all.

I did a valve adjustment...my first ever on my 38K mile, '03. Each of my intake valve retainers looked the same. Here are some pictures for reference to see if those more knowledgeable than I think there is an issue. I do not believe these retainers are bad.

thanks again.

They will NOT be in a lot more. They will be in, just a fraction if they are cracked. If you can see any measureable inner wall, they are broken.

The only good pic is the first one, and to me they look fine.

Does anyone have a pic of a cracked retainer? Just want to compare the differences.

So take a look...the lighting is just right. you can see the inner wall of the retainer where the keepers once sat. which appears grey. Then, because of the lighting of the pic, you can see what appears to be a white ring above the retainer wall. This is just the angled margin, and will be visible on a good retainer.

But if you can see ANY grey at all, they are cracked. Over time, they will get to the point that this one is at and you will lose the valve soon.

Anyone good with ms paint feel free to make arrows or whatever.

Or someone teach me as I have taught you all When i do the ms paint work, I cant post the pic. the format changes or something.

I believe Billman is saying that the keeper must be up to the red line.

Thank you to all who replied to this thread. I do apologize that all the pictures weren't as good as the first. All of my intake valve retainers looked just like the first picture. I tried to take the photos for evidence incase I ever sold the car in the future. As a newer s2000 owner, but skilled shade tree mechanic, I appreciate all your help.
