Is there anyway that its a bad spot?.. i dont want to disrupt any necessary airflow to the motor. i assume it should be fine but if anyone can lend there expertise i would a appreciate it.
Thanks
It looks like you have plenty of airflow around it anyways, but the only thing it should really effect is coolant temp, and as long as your gauge reads normal you should be fine.
You just blocked easy passage of air through 1/3 of the grill opening. You'll probably not notice a difference on your gauges (they're not THAT accurate) but I'll bet you'll notice the car feels a little slower/more sluggish.
i was rippin alon the other day and thought. "hmm what gas did i last put.. car feels a lil differ"... then i remembers theplate down there and was like.. "no could it be affecting it?"..
i dunno i may have to put it back! and that means a need a new oem mounting bracket.. i sorta choped mine for the mod..
someone put the plate there with a thick mesh and he overheated when we did the group canyon thing couple years back.(the owner used 2nd gear and stay in vtec for a good 30 minute tho)
i dont think he lives in a climate thats usually as hot as ours.
here is mine and i have never overheated or come close. but mine doesnt block as much of the grill opening as yours.
if youre really worried about it, you might want to look into wiring your A/C fan to kick in alongside your radiator fan to get a little extra cooling.
i guess you can simply run the A/c fan in series with the radiator fan to make it easy but i just pulled that off the top of my head right now so i dont really know what problems that might cause.
another thing is maybe a lower temp fan switch (spoon?) with a lower temp thermostat. but all this just so you can have your plate mounted there might be too much of a hassel.
