Well it would be interesting to see just how many have failed and if the delay valve was removed.
well if anyone else has seen them failed, then they should post.
[QUOTE]I seem to remember a lot more ap1 diffs failing by this point in their life.

Well then, if all the above proves to be true, the next thing that would be interesting to investigate is how long ap2 owners clutches last compared to ap1's.

We would obviously need to get quie a few examples to get a valid sample though b/c drivers ability plays a big role here too.

FWIW of my own memory (and personal statistics in my head lol) it appears that more people complain about their ap2 clutch going out extremely early, compared to ap1's.

AP2 w/ CDV removed here with a diff still running strong!! Just changed the diff fluid for the 1st time last week and didn't see any sign of damage. FYI, I don't dump the clutch ever but do more than my share of poweslides and hard shifts. I'm considering getting the HTG Comptech PP/Disc/flywheel set up along with a comptech diff with 4.57's. It seems recently that on an odd occasion (1-2 times a week) my clutch will slip on a hard shift. I don't know if it's because of the intense heat we've had lately, or if after a spirited run I've glazed the clutch a little and it needs to be scrubbed down to fresh material. Maybe someone can give some insight or advice.

I really wish woodwork or someone in a similiar position would be able to comment on this. I rarely ever hear of an ap2 having diff issues even with the CDV removed, however I can't find any actual proof (especially with the pics in this thread) that the diff has been changed at all.

Please add this to the library/ stick it whatever (if it isn't already). The comparison pics are awesome.

Also crossreferencing this with another thread:

I have an AP2 '04 diff with CDV removed and I have had no issues whatsoever other than improved clutch response and extended friction disk life. I have ~90000 miles on my original friction disk (I think in direct result of removing CDV otherwise I would have had to replace my clutch sooner) I am just now getting to where I need a new clutch. I never dump the clutch. I am going with a new Competition clutch kit (stage 2) and Competition lightened flywheel ~11lbs and I am installing cryotreated 4.56 gears in my stock housing. I will post results. I think I will keep my stock 4.10's just in case. I don't regret at all removing the CDV, it has improved my clutch response and improved my friction disk life, and I hope it will continue to do so with my new set up.

I too am a believer in LE607....I will be replacing mine with the latest "improved" version that has replaced the LE607...the LE1605. I hope it performs as well or better than the 607 did.

I just put LE1605 in my diff last night. 47k on an 05.

The fluid was somewhat dark and milky looking so I am assuming it needed changed. (I am a new owner).

Any more info on AP2's diff failure rate as compared to AP1's?
