Thumbs up MY06 Alignment Numbers

I am getting an alignment and I want to know what to tell the guy.

I know the AP1's are best with the "UK spec" but does that apply to the AP2's as well?

I live in the UK and have had 4 S's. So it does apply to all AP2's.
I've had an 04, 05 and 06 and the alignment is the same.
Though the UK spec you refer to is for AP1's that are tail happy!

So go for the UK spec then?

Go for the UK +04 spec and add whatever extra camber you might want!

Uh, the suggested -2.0 degree camber is more than enough for spirited driving on open roads.

The suggested 2.0mm toe-in on the rears may be a bit too much though. AP2s aren't as tail happy as AP1s, some (people in track/competition forums) suggest 0mm toe in the rear for AP2s.

And as a disclaimer: its all about taste really. get the UK spec alignment done, and then adjust as you develop an understanding for what is going on -- think about what you need, what you want the car to do, etc.

for instance, I have 2mm toe-in in the rear because I need a lot of high-speed stability (very frequently over 140mph), I tried 1mm and 1.5mm before choosing it.

I have -2.0 camber in the rear, I tried 1deg30' before that.

I noticed that -2.0 camber is too much for winter tires (I've lost traction accelerating from a stop -- major wheelspin in 1st and 2nd), noting that for next year, I'm going with factory camber specs (1deg30') for winter tires.

and so forth.

I know alignments are expensive over there... but really, as you'll eventually figure out yourself, its a matter of taste and utility. there is no best alignment, what may suit my needs may be useless to you, etc.

good luck.

Just a point of clarification here on the "UK spec" alignment!

What you are calling the "UK spec" is actually HUK's answer to tail happy AP1's when the press drove the launch cars. It is an alternative to the factory AP1 settings design to make the less twitchy and less tail happy. It does make the turn in heavier and the steering harder. It also gives less notice the back end is going but the limit is a lot higher than stock AP1's. All UK AP2's come with the AP2 factory alignment.
HUK DO NOT us "UK spec" alignment on the AP2.

Thanks for the responses.

I think the manual had specs so I will probably go from those.

I lowered just 1" (Tein S-Tech) and my front tires are gone after ~2k miles

When I had those springs and got my alignment done they aligned it closest to stock spec but now that i'm getting new wheels and tires and I'm going more aggressive.
