I'm in the process of getting my S2k and am wondering about HP and longevety of the motor. I am at heart a NA fanatic, but I know the pain of both wallet and time to get a NA car to produce excellent HP numbers and times. It appears that turbo is an easier route to take at this juncture. I am looking for about 300-350 whp with my car and want to do it safely and reliably. I want it to be completly usable on the street- the HP that is.. and will autox the car as well as RR in the near future. My question is who is the big NA power producer and what did he/she do to get there? same with Turbo---

 

NA power, I would guess turbo_pwr (kind of an oxymoron there).

FI power, I would say cjb80.

 

definately go with turbo. with proper tuning and fuel management, it will be reliable.


n/a power will get you more respect, but for the $$$ turbo is the way to go.

 

The only replacement for displacement is boooooooooooooooost..

Ooh, that's tough. The S2000's engine is not designed to handle a lot of hp in N/A form, or even forced induction. It's just a small-displacement sports roadster that's more fun to drive than almost anything else. And it's an awesome autocrosser.

If going to high hp, a lot of "beefing up" will be necessary to the internal parts, as well as tranny and diff.

This is not a high horsepower car without some serious modifications. It's just not designed to be that kinda car. It's not your Corvette kinda car, but more like Elise kinda car. Well, enough of my rambling.

 

the car meant for high n/a power but boost can be done safely.... if u have money i'd just go with all toda parts and tuning...

 

If you're looking for 300 whp, then FI is the only way to go. No one (that I'm aware of) has topped 240 to the wheels on this car without boost.

 

I think the only way 300 rwhp from a N/A S2000 would be to order Inline Pro's 2.5 liter kit. (they estimate it at 260 hp) Then going with ITB's and all of your bolt ons. (Header, Exhaust, etc) And then pray for 300 hp. There is a thread somewhere around here where someone is in the process of doing the 2.5 liter kit from Inline pro. Find it and maybe watch his progress?

Anyways, all that being said. Even if you are a true NA guy at heart and want the power, we all know FI is the way to go. 300 rwhp can be had easily with proper tunning. Weither its SC or turbo.
