The word finally came in that I had cross member stiffener damage. It needs to be completely replaced. Can this be done correctly and the car will still perform up to par?

chris,
the cross member can be re-build or purchase a new one at the dealer. if you re-build it, it depends on how good the rebuild is. it may break after a few months or how well it's re-build.

if you completely replace it, it should be good.

don't take my word, maybe someone else can chime in on this.

I had my entire drivers side frame rail cut and replaced along with the front x-member by another owner and full time body tech (speedfreak). It was done perfectly and there is no telling the difference. No signs of shaking or anything whatsoever, and I have tested it up to 140+. The key is finding someone who knows what they are doing, has the right equipment, and gives a crap about the job. Good luck.

There was a board member, sorry I forgot his name, who was selling modules to make windows and roofs one touch down and UP. They went for $25 each module. The modules were made by Autoloc if that helps.
