Default Need Help please strange whining noise

Hi all need direction please, my issue is when driving my S2000 2003 the gearbox and clutch all work smoothly as they should however when I’m at any speed as soon as I lift off the accelerator pedal car still in gear no clutch pressed in I’m hearing a whining noise with a hint of a grinding noticeable in it, sound is louder and more high pitched the faster I’m travelling before I lift off the pedal, soon as I push the clutch in it’s gone or as soon as I touch the accelerator again it’s gone and I can’t tell if it’s a diff gearbox or shaft noise but it’s deffently along that center line of the car, to describe the sound it almost sounds like a much much quieter version of how a modern rally car sequential gearbox sounds at slow speed when their coasting in to pit area, gearbox oil was changed about three thousand miles ago, thanks in advance your advice or opinion is appreciated

Post in the Under the Hood forum. I'm no expert, but I would think differential. Drain and check you fluids, gearbox as well as it is possible an incorrect fluid was used.

Sounds like you're describing clutch chatter/buzz. If I'm right, it's normal for this car.

If Honda didn't fix it, then honestly it's not really worth the hassle and cost unless you're doing a clutch while you're at it.

Also, I've spoken to a few mechanics and they've told me that the "fix" doesn't really fix anything. On some cars, the "fix" does nothing at all.

Lastly, yeah it sounds like the car is broken, but it's absolutely harmless.
