Default Need help with proper N-0 settings.......

.....I remember reading numerous threads on suggested settings for the Mugen N-0 coilovers.....I can't seem to find any of those threads.

I need help with either finding those threads, or suggestions on height and stiffness settings from front to back.

My main use for the car this summer will be for daily driving on some rough roads (about 60 miles a day), and some aggressive street touring on smooth roads.

I am on stock OEM S02's, and will be getting a very slightly more aggressive alignment (camber-wise) than stock, with rear and front toe-in close to 0 degrees, and stock caster.

Suggestions,....help please!

An email from Scott at King Motorsports:
"Morning Al,

Here a start for you. For the way the shock are delivered get to 1" lower
than factory ride height screw the front mounts up 1/4" and screw the rears
up 3/4". This should get you in the ballpark....

Please let us know if you need any assistance when installing them

Good Luck!

Scott"

From S2R's pm to me:
"i remember the king car per nick had full stiff in the fronts and 3 half turns from full stiff in the rears. jason, though, had them full stiff all around. i guess it's just preference. right now i'm at nick's setting."

Luder94,
I initially had my N0s full stiff all around, but the back would skip in turns and seemed to not take a set. Turnin was rather abrupt as well. 3 half truns from full stiff at the back and lowered all around from where the Mugens are factory adjusted (factory from Mugen made mine lower than my stock factory settings, I found) makes my car very sweet on the twisties and turns. I also had corner balancing done.

With Spoon wheels and Yoko 205/245, front and rear would rub briefly on hard fast turns where there is a bump, not constantly on any turn.

This setup might be a little rough for you on regular bad roads or highways, but you could always try softer settings front and back.

Prolene,

Thank you very much. Right now I have full stiff all around, with a Mugen front stabilizer bar.

It's a real peculiar feeling tyring to "toss" the car into a corner....I can't seem to toss it anymore. The front seems to plow a little, giving gas doesn't swing the rear out anymore (which I'm assuming is from the gobs of neg. camber on the rear after the car got lowered).....it just seems to stick, the more "go" I give it, the tighter the rear feels.

However, if I hit a bump in the turn, the rear skips pretty consistently. Hell, the rear feels like it catches air when I hit a bump at speed while tracking straight.

You mentioned the your feeling of turn-in; mine isn't so dramatic, but I think this is because the front sits a tad bit higher than the rear (about 1/2"). This will definitely need to be corrected.

I do not have the Mugen units, but have found with my Koni's that good track settings are way too stiff for street use on the crappy roads here in Dallas (with bump steer, rough and uncomfortable). On the track I use 80% of the damping available on the front and 50% rear, where on the street I only use 40% front and 25% rear.

I fastened adjustors to the rear so that it is fast to change and I adjust when I get to the track and adjust back before driving home.

Chris,

I was actually going to address this thread to you, but remembering that you had Koni shocks, I figured that you may not be familiar with the N-0 settings.

You do raise an interesting issue I have with adjusting the rears; I hate to take off the trunk liners each and every time I'd like to adjust the rear settings. Unfortunately, I'd hate to also leave the trunk area bare, without the liners.....arrrgh.

I will play with the rears tonight (expect to set them at half stiff), and will keep the fronts full stiff to see how I like it. I think I like the full stiff up front, but will have to see how the front is affected by softening the rear.

Maybe for $h!ts and giggles, I may even go back to the stock front sway bar on the weekend...

I did.....Scott wasn't available, and Bob wasn't too knowledgable about how and what settings he could recommend.

Also, I don't know whether or not Nick W. is in the states or not, otherwise I would have tried talking to him as well.
