Default Need a new windscreen advice please

Hello, well my windscreen was chipped last week and the company my insurance use came to fix the chip today but they said i needed a new window without even having a good look! He didnt even seem intrested in fixing it...

Anyway Is there any questions i need to ask before i book in? These guys seem like a small company and Iv heard of a few guys on here have problems with trims not fitting and rust cracking the window at a later date.

He did say to mention i want a green window when i ring to book in?!

Thank you

The general rule I've always understand is if the chip/crack is bigger than a quarter then its too big to be fixed. The airspace inside the crack has too much volume to expand and by drilling and/or applying resin it can still expand too much and continue extending.
Thats probably why your guy declined the "fix". It takes no more than a few second to assess the size of the crack.

I don't know about other forum members... But I always try to get the OEM Honda Windshield. I don't believe in the "green" or 3rd party windshields. They always claim to be at the DOT standards, but often times they are made with slightly thinner materials or layered differently. The durability might not be as good as OEM windshields.

PPG is one brand that I have used many times. They seems to be pretty good quality, and great in price. But no other 3rd party brands I have used have out lasted the OEM windshields, consider all condition being the same.

Yes they can try to reuse, but the manual says replace it when you replace the glass.
About 70-80 at Honda dealer, less online.

Try to find a Safety Lite windshield repair place. They seem to know what they are doing and can get you OEM. That is what USAA uses when I need a chip repair.

Personally, I would go with OEM. Treat the S with the highest quality parts. She deserves it. Its not a civic.
