I've done a lot of searching lately regarding the S2000 but I am puzzled a bit.

If I read and understand most of the information correctly, the S2k appears to be nearly maxed out in regards to benefiting much from normal non F/I bolt-on mods.

Most CAI and exhaust systems appear to do very little from results from the testing that it comes with a bit of a sacrifice (more sacrificing than actual benefiting from power). I'm coming to this conclusion based on the amount spent on the mod(s) versus the actual benefit from it. I've seen test results of some induction system which adds 3 peak hp but robs 2-4hp from a huge range on the power curve.

The only true mod that appears to put a lot of gains is F/I (for obvious reasons ) and of course comes at the highest cost.

I'd like to hear from you guys who have some cost-effective bolt-on mods (you determine what cost effective is) that turned out decent numbers through testing.

I'm interested in near-stock noise levels (I hate unnecessary noise). If there isn't any real worthwhile mods, then I guess I should save all the cash that I would normally use to upgrade the S2k and make an investment into F/I.

most for the cheapest is NOS. but you can run into problems.

Hondata intake manifold gasket keeps your car cooler on long runs, along with the thermo/fan switch/ cap upgrade.

Hondata ECU will be out soon too.

Get a used supercharger for $2000 -3000 if you can find one.

An AEM CAI works fine on my car. I can get it around 215 brand new and shipped directly to you from AEM if your interested. I last purchased one for an Acura RSX type-S at that price when retail is 297 w/out tax and shipping. So, mabey it'll be cheaper depending how much it costs retail. Definatly cheaper if you don't live in CA because you avoid shipping and tax.

Cost effective and performance enhancing at the same time on this car?

You won't find many people here that fit that description.

Take it from me who has spent right around $4K on i/h/e.....its not worth the money. Yeah, I could have just skipped all that and went with a s/c, but I can't risk the car being out of commission since its my one and only daily driver.

Once again, 4.44 gears is the way to go. Installed, it will prolly cost you right around $1,000+. If I'm not mistaken, the gears will not show u any impressive dyno #'s. The car will just run more easily. Basically, the car will feel like it is in one lower gear than it really is. Thus, the feel of more torque and pull.

Hey thanks for all of your advice, it means a lot to a newb like myself.

I am most likely going with SCing... but the 44gears does seem very appealing at the price.

Rick Hesel, one the site sponsors is selling the gears drop shipped from Japan for $725. Then you will need a yellow box to recalibrate your speedo and a good mechanic to install the gears. So maybe $$1300-1400 out the door?
