You can't order a short block from Majestic. The F20C is getting close to discontinuation and so there are not that many in stock with Honda.

As for what to do. You can re-build your engine, buy a new short block somewhere around 3200 not shipped to your door, buy a used shortblock somewhere less than 3200. Or buy an entire used engine which would allow you the easiest DROP IN but you still need to swap all the hoses/lines/sensors etc over. Entire engine used will be somewhere between 2K and 4500. You might be able to pick one up for less than 2K but you will have to act quick as they won't stay available long.

Good luck.

Discontinuation of the F20c? What are your sources stating so?

There are 4 in Honda's main warehouse in Torrence California, brand new from a dealer should run just at 3200, new. No core exchange as they will not rebuild the old block

just an FYI, someone I know is on the 3rd used engine. Blew the original one and replaced with a used one that was knocking as soon as it was put in, pulled that one and replaced with another used one that was shot because it had a spun bearing. Im ordering a new one just to have, in case, $3159

I ordered two 2.0L short block engines from Honda, about 8 days ago. They arrived at my shop today.

At the time of order, there were 12 in all of the USA, minus the two I just bought made 10 in the USA, according to Honda.

The price has gone from 1760 to 3150 in 4-6 years.

Who knows if more will continue to come from Japan as the inventory depletes.

The 2.2L is 2800 or so, and the 2.2L DBW engine is a little less than that. Supply is likely higher.

Were those two engines fully assembled from Honda, or were they separate head and block assemblies?

Got your PM fish22...to answer: (I added short block above to clarify)

A "short block" is an engine without a cylinder head. The entire block, bottom end, timing chain and guides, crank pulley, and front timing cover are brand new, not a re-build.

The head must be purchased seperately. I can also be bought in short form, or fully loaded. A fully loaded head is as much money as the short block. Lucky for us, the cylinder head is usually good, even if you starve the engine of oil.

Here is what you get, minus the head gasket and oil filter in this pic:
