Default New Engine break in...With a Turbo!?

Right now I have my engine out of the car for reasons that I will wisclose at a later date, but for right now, I know that it would be alot easier to put my Speedcraft Turbo Kit, and clutch, and exhaust, while the engine is out of the car. However the engine that will be going back into the car will be brand spanking new with zero miles on it. Is this a bad Idea? Or could I get away with installing the kit now and just keeping the car below 3500-4000 rpm which is where the boost would start coming in?

Are you placing the Long block, or just a short block?

Turn the boost down as much as you can during break in and you will be more than fine.

Zero miles, same rules apply. Gentle break in is needed on everything for I would take it to at least 1000 miles. No vtec, low boost.

I don't know much about super chargers, so this may be a stupid question. If the S/C is a centrifugal type, won't it allow air to pass even if the S/C is not turning? If so, can't you just leave the pulley off until the engine is broken in?

One important note; don't break the motor in on synthetic oil. Your rings will NEVER seat properly and you'll end up with typical S engine trouble (#4 cyl faliure, ticking, oil consumption.) Use a high quality non synthetic and watch your oil consumption. You new motor WILL use oil, until the rings are seated. Once your oil consumption ceases( and it will) that's your que to switch to Mobil 1. The S2000 engine will take unrelenting abuse, if it's broken in properly. All you other oil eaters should switch back to standard oil (the original oil that came in the car when it was new should stay in for 3500 miles of light driving, lots of varied RPM's.)

from what i have researched, the break-in oil cannot be purchased. i could be totally wrong. i use castrol gtx 10w-30 for a topper, and that's what my dealer uses as well.

to get the break-in oil tho, i would think you have to get it directly from the nsx/s2000/insight plant in japan. i bet its pretty pricey too. good luck!!! tell us if you get any info on obtaining this break-in oil.
