Default New owner checkup

So I've had my S for around a month or two and am going to make time in these next two weekends to do some quick maitenance. My question is what should I check and do to my car?

So far on my list of things to do:

Change oil
Change diff fluid
Change trans fluid
Replace pcv valve and add 5micron filter after
Check/replace plugs
Run a bottle of stp complete system cleaner
Change air filter to K&N drop in
rear axle hub nuts re-torqued to 221
Cabin air filter
Oil jet bolts
Alignment check

Is there anything else I should check on an '01? I heard something about a nut in the rear (diff?) that should be checked and tightened to a new torque spec (is there a faq on this)?

Nice list, a lot of people don't go through all of that trouble. I would also check your clutch fluid if you have a fair amount of miles on it.

Oh, man that thing was babied. Doubt there's anything wrong with your clutch fluid then, but I'd check it anyway.

Ben - Try adding the 5micron filter after the catch can, supposedly a good bit of stuff will be caught that usually would go by. You can get them from Homedepot or lowes in the air compressor tools section for under $20.

You should consider replacing the brake fluid, especially if the car may have been tracked/autocrossed or you plan on tracking/autocrossing.

You should replace the oil jet bolts if you plan on driving the car at high rpm's.

You should definitely get the alignment checked. I would have it set to UK specs.

You should get four matching tires of the right size. Note the FAQ's about the rear tires. The OE S-02's are 225's in NAME ONLY. They are closer to 245 in actuality. If you're not running S-02's all around, your rears should be 245's (fronts 205). Keep in mind, the 00's and 01's are the most prone to oversteer. Each revision has gotten less neutral (more prone to understeer). Run non-S02's in 205f 225r only if you REALLY know what you're doing.

If wind noise is annoying with the top up, you can replace the strikers.

If you can't see out the rear plastic window or it splits on a cold day, you can retrofit the top to an '02+. Believe me, it's a PITA.

Hope this is all helpful!

I've been here almost 4 years and owned 2 s2000s and this is the 1st time i've heard of changing PCV valves on relatively low mileage cars. Not to discredit anyone but the ones mentioning changing PCV valves are new members.
