this is more or less related to mph, but in my subee, i got sand and snow caked to the inside of my rims. This threw the balance of the wheels off and sent vibration through the car/steering wheel.

xviper,

It does not do it while coasting.
I checked the engine mounts today with a friend. I put the parking break on and put it in 1st and released the clutch enough to move it foreward a little then did the same in reverse. The enging did not move at all. Could it be a transmission mount?

That's not the best test for bad engine mounts, but it'll do for now. The tranny mount is a solid rubber thing. It should not go bad. And if it did, you would see you stick shifter move around like crazy (it normally moves a fair bit).

Given that it does it only when accelerating, I would now suggest you continue your search by targetting the propshaft and the CVs on the 1/2 shafts. If it's your clutch, it would more likely do it during engagement, too.

xviper,

How can it be the cv or propshaft whereas it only does it a certain rpms under a load? It does not vibrate if say I take it up to 4500 and then stop accelerating and hold at 4500. Only when the engine is under a load does it do it. Reving in neutral shows no vibration and I had a friend watch the belt and pullys today in the parking lot as I reved it and the belt was smooth. If I take it into honda, it should still be under warranty shouldn't it since the car is just a yr old with 31000 miles on it. Any other ideas?

Rob

I think you may be right. When I get on it hard it does seem to be happening a little in the lower geard, but 3rd is the worst. I will take it in to Honda and have them check it out. I need to do that anyway since I just bought the car and it has 31000 miles on it.

Thanks

Not to thread jack...
MY01/60,000 miles
I also recently started getting a steady vibration. Almost all speeds/rpms.
My rear tires were completely bald so I thought maybe a seperated belt or something...
On went new Potenzas and brake pads all around, but the vibration is still there.
My thoughts were possibly:
?warped rotors?
?Bad U joint?
?bad CVs? (although they looked fine when I had it on the rack for my tires)
?diff?

I also tried TQing my axles a bit harder as to hoepfully elimante the "clicks", but to no avail.

If the vibration is only preset under acceleration, or sustained part throttle, then goes away when coasting it's from pitted/worn inner CV joints. Also possible is a propshaft vibration, but CV's are the most likely cause.

If the vibration gets worse as speed increases, and can be felt throughout the car/back of the seat and doesn't change under accel or decel, it's a rear wheel tire balance issue.

If the steering wheel vibrates under accel or decel, and gets worse as speed increases it's a front tire/wheel balance issue.

A vibration under braking felt through the steering wheel is from the front brake rotors, a rear brake vibration can be isolated by pulling slightly on the e-brake while driving. if the vibration is present, it's the rear rotors.
