Default New to the s2000

Hi I just got a s2000 and it has a blown up motor wondering what other motors are easy to find a swap in been looking for a f20 but all I can find is high miles or they have broken rods. What's the best route to go? Should I get one with broken rods and rebuild any help is appreciated

I hope you didn't pay very much, because I don't have good news for you. Where are you located?

- Used F20C is very expensive
- People have trouble rebuilding the F20C and are frequently unsuccessful
- K24 is almost certainly the "easiest" swap but still not cheap

Start searching. I hope that you have patience.

Good luck with the hunt!

Millenium technologies rebuild Porsche blocks all the time, they can fix ours too. Last I heard $1,800 to plate the block, cylinder heads don't like to be shaved, so it's really hard to rebuild or find a good cylinder head.

"Blown up motor" doesn't tell us much. I assume that's just a figure of speech unless all the rods were blown out the side of the block and the head blown thru the hood.

You want to restore the car? Donor car is often (probably usually) the best solution but even these are getting hard to find and expensive. Successful rebuilds seem rare. Start reading the notes here. The head can be shaved, of course, but will ruin the motor.

If you just want a running car the K24 engines are relatively cheap and more and more conversions to this are happening so i expect there are a couple of shops that specialize in this swap and the same for the LS. In either case bring plenty of money.

Much of this depends on where you live. I doubt there are too many good S2000 engine shops in Montana.

The timing chain geometry, and the combustion chamber are the biggest things affected by machining the head.

Where are you located? There is an S2000 K-swap specialist in upstate NY.

ASM in Wisconsin advertises swaps including labor. Looks like about $10k installed, according to their site: https://www.shopasmotorsports.com/k-...ngine-packages

That website makes this look like the K-Swap Promised Land! $2,000 plus parts for the "OEM-Like" K24 -- the parts, though, look like $7,500. Under $10,000 for a turn key installation still looks good to me assuming these guys are legit.
