New S2k Owner - Whining Noise When Accelerating/Decelerating (Video Included)
Hi,
Recently I've purchased a 2005 S2000 with 39,000 miles on the dash at the time of purchase. Been wanting this car for a really long time and really glad to have finally been able to purchase after 3 months of searching. I'm not the best manual driver by any means and I'm learning about all the little perks of this car. This forum has been a great resource and I figured I come to you guys for some help.
I read up a bunch of posts on here about speed depended whining noise because I noticed that it's happening to me recently and the noise isn't going away. It is really apparent when slowing down from 30 mph to 5 mph. At slower speeds the noise completely goes away. The frequency of the noise gets higher as speed increases. Hard to describe so I included a video.

I know that the s2k has a lot of noises in the cabin that are normal but I read here that this could be due to bearings from the transmission? Really hard to believe given that the car has such low miles. Purchased from a dealer with a good reputation and had the car inspected and everything checked out great. In the video the whining noise gets pretty apparent as I am slowing down at a stop sign. Filmed with my iPhone as I placed it in the cup holder. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I'll have to test when I get back from vacation but I think it only happens in gear, so maybe just the noise of the drivetrain during engine braking?

I get the same noise while slowing down to a stop in the low RPMs now that I think of it but I've had no issues over here. AP1 w/150k

Mine happens regardless of in gear or not. I could be slowing down in neutral and the noise is still there.
