CaptainMike: Before anything else, no one said lug the engine. Cite your source where it says shifting at a point between 3K and 4K will yield worse mpg than an higher RPM.

I'm not enjoying getting into an offensive stance like this, but I certainly don't need to be on an internet forum for years and years or the permission of a guy on said internet forum to be able to call out BS on someone.

The fact that you're advertising the way you drive leads me to believe you think I'm advocating driving this car in a particular way (be it slow or fast), or shifting where we might believe the best mpg will be achieved. I've yet to speak of "how this car SHOULD be driven," that was your friend.

I'm merely saying that the OP has the right to drive the car however he desires and not be disrespected for it.

Having seniority on the forums doesn't give anyone the right to berate others for their driving technique.

Oh, and you are trolling. What's with the threat? Its an internet forum, get a life, sir.

mikegarrison: Sorry if I jumped to any conclusion prematurely, and thank you for clearing that up.

I actually agree, it does seem really hard to shift at 3.5K rpms and still keep proper control of the car. I also tend to shift at a point slightly higher during inner-city driving to keep the car above 3K.

Let's not make this something bigger than it is, understand that I was only trying to keep UTH free from what I thought was childish behavior (to berate someone for their driving technique), but obviously that has been cleared up.

Have a good day.

Until you scan and upload papers proving without a doubt that you are officially authorized by Honda to have the exclusive right to tell how people to drive their cars, shut up.

I mean, really, who do you think you're showing off to when you tell us you shift in between 5 and 8.9k? Its a S2K forum, if you must be reminded, most of us actually own an s2000.
You just don't get it, do you brimstone?
Mike G posted an opinion AS an opinion and you went totally off the handle with the insults.. it's like he accidentially bumped into you at the grocery check out and you called in an artillery barrage in response. It is absolutely fine to disagree with someone about their OPINIONS on this forum, but it is NEVER OK to insult someone OR to tell them to "SHUT UP". that is the point I was trying to make. (Unsucccessfully in my prior two posts obviously, and probably in this one too)
That is all I have to say about it.
Cheers,
Mike

I know this will be considered trolling or whatever, but here is my take: Far too often, the written word is taken the wrong way. Since this is a discussion board, all we have is the written word leaving it to be interpreted by the reader. Someone hit it on the head when they stated that 99% of every post on this site is most likely personal opinion. The arguing takes away from any intelectual gain that can be derived from a particular thread. And after all.......

-- you're right, the written word is too often too blunt an instrument.

good one.
