Default New 'Speedcraft' turbo...

First of all... Speedcraft is in the process of being dissolved. Dwight (previously of Speedcraft) who is the 'inventor' if you will of the Speedcraft turbo has opened another shop on his own called Stage 6 Motorsports (904 777-3250). He is getting a turbo kit together for another board member as I speak. He is also working on an additional kit with a target price of $5K or less to compete with the Superchargers. The kit will continue to use high quality parts but won't be quite as 'overengineered' or as expensive as the current kit. Any of you who are considering any of the SC setups... I would wait a month or so until he finshes since the turbo has many advantages over the SC especially in the bottom end.

wow that sounds really cool. a turbo kit in the price range of the current superchargers would really get me thinking...

I agree....as long as the performance numbers are there, at that price he would have everyone and their mother with a turbo in their S! (Turbo in your S...is that ok to say here?)

what do you mean by "overengineered".

also, one question....does the Speedcraft turbo kit need any other parts installed, like a piggyback ECU for example, or is like the Comptech SC kit where you just install it and your good to go, with no need for tuning. does the turbo kit require tuning and everything, or are the electronics supplied with the kit good enough??

TIA

Utah,
You are an established and respected senior here in the Forum. For we recent members (as you have personally reminded me), why do you recommend we wait for Dwight instead of continuing patronage of the original and reorganized SpeedCrafter shop? This is not flame bait, I respect your opinion and want to know why you would be the first in line for Dwight's offerings after SpeedCrafters just wrote they will continue to do the best engineering they can. Oh, and by the way, I wear a $400 helmet, so I'm not interested in $10 solutions.

Funny that someone brought up the helmat/head solutions, it is a good example
but does not apply to SpeedCraft kit, IMHO. You guys keep in mind that SpeedCraft
uses NOTHING of their own parts but only use quality parts on the market that's
available today (things like Vortch FMU and a Tial Wastegate and BOV), Sure
