Default new user NEED HELP WITH SWAP INFO!!

Hello all, my name is damon and I'm new to the site and I'm glad I joined! I've purchased a 2006 s2000 with it needing a new engine. (hole in block) I have found a 2005 full swap with ecu, wiring harness etc. problem is my 2006 is drive by wire of course, the 05 is not now I'm thinking it would be easier to drop in the swap keep my 2006 wiring and ecu in my car already. now my question is could I swap my intake manifold and throttle body and put it on the 2005 if I keep my accelerator pedal, my ecu and my original harness in it would it work? any help would be greatly appreciated I'm ready to pull the trigger and go buy the swap if I could swap over/keep the parts stated earlier. thank you all!

Unfortunately not that easy, the 2005 has an air pump system. If the head assembly is in good shape on the 2006 then it could be swapped onto the 2005 shortblock and you could retain the DBW system and ECU.

There is another option and it would involve blocking the air pump ports on the 2005 head, swap your intake and retain the DBW as above. There will be a valve cover swap as well and timing rings. Can be done either way but not plug and play. Good luck.

It can be worthwhile if you get it at the right price.

Search the forum as this has been done many times and I am sure that there are threads that will walk you through the process.

If I just drop in the full 2005 swap with wiring etc do I have to swap out the accelerator pedal with a non drive by wire pedal ?

There are other factors like the VSA that is controlled by the '06+ ECU, I am sure you will find what you need in the forums but might take a little reading.

Allsaid, its going to be easier, and retain more value, to keep the dbw.

Blocking the aorpump ports is not difficult. Someone used to sell a kit with plates, gaskets, everything. See if its still available. If not, not that hard to make plates and buy gaskets.

Swapping the head means risking something wrong with '06 head (debris from meltdown made their way into head?)

Swapping intake and blocking ports easier than sourcing and swapping unknown other parts list, ecu, pedal, etc.

Yes very true my first thought was about the value of the car at the end of everything and so on. If I don’t find a 06 swap I’ll end up looking up the kit you mentioned. Thank you for your help as well!
