Default A New VAFC question

Gernby or other VAFC gurus....
I was wondering if there is a way to set the VAFC so the only thing it does is lower the VTEC engagement point. If all goes as planned with the 01-02 ECU swap, then I don't want to mess around with the VAFC with the sole exception of lowering the VTEC engagement point. I was thinking of adjusting the throttle settings to 100%? Suggestions.....

yes, its as simple as changing the vtec engagement point and not messing around with the fuel settings.

so the throttle settings don't have anything to do with V-tec engagement point? Also, you need some settings for the car to run i.e. when it was installed, they had to program some baseline settings that would allow the car to run and get me to the tuner.

ok,
I already have some settings in there from when I was running it. So, I suppose I would intialize it, thus clearing the settings, and then just adjust the V-tec engagement points. Sound right? Sorry to keep asking questions, but I bought used without a manual.

Yes, that sounds right to me. Just don't adjust the v-tec engagement point too low.

Oh yea , make sure u follow the basic setus process.
-sensor type........the instructions on page 37 say "Please set the V-AFC to the values on the left diagram." Those values are 06 in and 06 out

-car select.........Set the cylinders to four and the throttle to arrow up to indicate the 3-5 volt WOT.

-graph scale.....set this to your liking as you see the format of the graphs and how you want the ranges configured.

-voltage check.....I've never done this. I used a voltmeter to do it. I trust a voltmeter.

-sensor check....Isn't this the same as above?

-initialize.....Don't screw with it after you've set it up. It will reset the settings that you just made back to the state they were in from the factory

By the way, set all of your adjustment points (rpm points) at 0% adjustment and there will be no manipulation of the MAP signal set to the ECU. If you set your L>H for VTEC engagement at 6000 rpm and your H>L for 5800 or 5900 rpm, you'll be very close to the VTEC settings that come from the factory.
