Default No VTEC

i have a 2003 s2000, when i first bought the car vtec was working but the vehicle seemed a tad sluggish compared to another stock s2000, since then it has stopped working. Things i have checked are: oil is new and full, air filter is brand new, vtec solenoid resistance check showed 14ohms, took solenoid off and inspected the screen which was clean with no clogging, pushed the vtec solenoid down to check for movement and checked out fine, swapped my vtec solenoid with another solenoid which was working properly on another s2000 ,lastly i used a quick splice on the vtec wire directly out of the ecu and hooked it up right at the solenoid. I have an aem ems on the car so oil pressure shouldn't matter since the standalone doesn't use that sensor. Any suggestions??

also did a compression test and was roughly 220 across all four cylinders and that was without wot so the numbers read a tad lower than they actually are. IM STUMPED

so it's not stock? it's got to be your tuner. Vtec needs to have oil pressure in order to work.

Does it rev to 9k? If so, it might be just heat from the weather. Try it at night when the temps are a lil cooler.

the car still has to use oil pressure to engage VTEC, regardless of what ecu youre using

not with the aem ems: heres two links stating this, they dont go in depth unfortunately, my tuner also stated that it doesnt pay attention to that sensor either

then wat does aem use for vtec? It's got to be your tuner for sure. He might not know his stuff. If he is good, then you wouldn't have vtec problem.

that doesnt make any sense at all...the whole VTEC system is based on using oil pressure to extend the valves more during crossover...as far as i know theres no other way to achieve this without oil pressure
